How to Support Local Businesses

1. Choose shopping small over big box stores.

Keep our local businesses in mind over places like Walmart and Amazon. According to an Indie Impact Study Series conducted by Civic Economics, when you spend $100 at a locally-owned business, $43 stays in the local economy. When you spend $100 at a non-locally owned business, only $13 stays in the local economy. Support our local businesses and our economy!

2. Buy gift cards.

Buy gift cards now for use later, or give gift cards to friends and family to encourage shopping locally.

3. Let someone else handle the cooking, cleaning, yard work, etc.

Let someone else handle the chores. Grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant, or hire a small business to handle this weekend's yard work.

How to Support Local Businesses for Free

1. Engage with their social media posts.

Liking, commenting, and sharing their social media posts is an easy way to help a business expand their reach.

2. Write a review.

Have you had great service, bought great products, or enjoyed a tasty meal at a local business? Let others know by leaving a review on Google or Yelp!

3. Give them a shout-out.

Next time you visit your favorite businesses, give them a shout-out! Start a snowball effect by helping these businesses gain visibility and encouraging others to support them.
